Overview Of Reiki Symbols

The practices and beliefs of each Reiki Symbol differ from teacher to teacher.  The one common belief that all Reiki Masters agree on, is that every Reiki Master Symbol is sacred and should be treated with the highest respect.

In the earlier days of Reiki the students were not taught Reiki Symbols, they were taught to attune to the energy through meditation and chants.  Following this Dr Usui found some of his students had difficulty learning this skill so he then developed symbols for them to focus on, to assist these students.  This is how Reiki Symbols were born. 

                                                     

I firmly believe that the symbols are just a tool.  There are a many  different variations  for each Reiki Symbol and this has happened due to fact that in the earlier days of studying Reiki a student was not allowed to take any written material home.  It was a strong belief during the attunement the Reiki Symbols would be burned permanently into the brain and the student would intuitively remember them.

Reiki Symbols on their own hold no power or secret energy.  When a Reiki Master uses Reiki Symbols the power the symbol holds is given by the practitioner who channels the energy.  The power comes from the Divine and each Reiki Symbol is used for a different purpose. It is the belief and intent the Reiki Master gives to the Reiki Symbols that empowers the Reiki Symbols.

Once a student learns how to connect to the Reiki energy there is no need to use Reiki Symbols unless you desire to.  Many Reiki healers learn Reiki using Reiki Symbols, and once they have mastered the energies stop using the symbols. This is a personal choice. 

The Reiki Master Symbols are used in attunements and for practitioners to use in treatments to amplify the Reiki energy during a healing.  Each Reiki Symbol is believed to have a different energy and is very interesting to study, as they allow a practitioner to focus the energy of Reiki for specific purposes.

Reiki Symbols Revealed

Chok-O Rei - First Degree Reiki Symbol - The power symbol meaning empowerment,  to bring power here or to amplify.   Often referred to as the light switch. The Choko rei is often used at the beginning and end of a Reiki session. The Choko Rei is the Reiki Symbol used to increase and empower energy, seals the Reiki energy in and around a person, adds power to other symbols, cleanses and protects from negative energy stops bleeding, adds energy to medicine, food, cars and computers.  It is also a powerful aid in manifestation.

Sei He Ki - Second Degree Reiki Symbol -  The mental and emotional symbol which is used to bring in connection to Balance, Harmony and Protection.  The Sei He Ki Reiki Symbol is generally used on clients in mental and emotional issues by connecting the brain and the body. It assists with bringing the mental and emotional problems to the surface to be released.  I have found this Reiki Symbol is especially beneficial for emotional and mental healing, relationship problems, divorce issues, loosing weight, aids the healing for misuse of drugs, alcohol and smoking, calming the conscious mind, harmony and balance including children, memory improvement especially when studying or reading, finding lost items, meditation cleansing, psychic protection and aids the healing of distance healing of past life pain of the soul. 

Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen Reiki Symbol - Also known as The Distance Symbol.  Meaning: "From the Buddha in me to the Buddha in you", “The God in me greets the God in you to bring healing or enlightenment” or  "No past, no present, no future". It is used to send Reiki to others over distance and time. This may be past, present or future. The Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen Reiki Symbol is often described as the bridge between heaven and earth.  This Reiki Symbol is the most important Symbol used to send distance Reiki energy to others over distance. It builds a bridge between the giver and receiver.

Dai Ku Myo - Third Degree Reiki  Symbol  This is a very powerful Reiki symbol and should only be used by Attuned Reiki Masters. The Dai Ku Myo Reiki Master Symbol is used to intensify Reiki energy for positive outcomes. This Reiki Master Symbol is can be used over the heart to heal the soul to Some people carry very deep pain and trauma deep within their soul from this life or past lives, which becomes buried or even forgotten. This causes blockages in their energy fields which manifests as physical illness and disease, and self destructive behaviours which cause trauma and distress. The Dai Ku Myo Reiki Master Symbol helps heal this pain and remove negative energies from the aura.

What To Expect During Reiki Healing Sessions

 

Reiki healing treatments are peaceful, relaxing and and always heal for the recipients highest good.

On arrival for a Reiki healing session you will be asked to lie on a massage table or to sit in a chair.  You will remain fully clothed and the practitioner will ask you to close your eyes and just relax.  If you are stiff and tense this will slow down the healing effect initially.

Some Reiki Masters will request information on your health and the reason for your visit.  Each and every Reiki healing is different.

A Reiki Master should never diagnose or make promises of outcomes from Reiki healing.

The Reiki practitioner will commence your healing session by placing their hand on or slightly above the body in specific areas.  Some Reiki Masters begin by sweeping the aura to find blocks and or clear the energy surrounding the body.

Traditional Reiki usually commences on the head although some practitioners prefer to commence a treatment at the feet and work up the body.   Some Reiki Masters allow their intuition to guide them and will place their hands wherever they are guided.  There is no right or wrong way to give Reiki Healing Energy to others.  All Reiki given with the highest intent to heal the recipient for his or her highest good is perfect.

When a Reiki Master places their hands on your body this should never be painful or hurt.  The practitioner should only place their hands very lightly on the recipient’s body.  Some practitioners prefer to hold their hands slightly above the body.
